Frequent reflection of your work is absolutely essential for growth.  Leadership reflections of my week:

  • Every leader has a leader.  The best leaders are also great followers.  Follow your leader the way you want your team to follow you.
  • Preparation is the key to a successful week.  As leaders, you are pulled in many different directions.  Anticipate needs for the week and take care of them before the week begins.  This preparation will take frustration out of the mix when you’re not able to be in the office to accomplish office work.
  • Don’t avoid the tough conversations.  When you see something that needs to be addressed, address it.  If done right, it will always be worth it.  This is how the organization moves forward.
  • Don’t be afraid to offer apologies.  When things don’t go right, be brave enough to own it, apologize, and get better.
